Indulging in the flavor-packed world of cuisine, Turkey Lahmacun is a delightful dish that brings a unique twist to a classic recipe, featuring spiced ground turkey spread over a warm, flaky flatbread.

Ingredients

Scale

Flatbread

  • Soft yet crispy flatbread

Ground Turkey

  • 1 lb ground turkey

Onion

  • 1 finely chopped onion

Tomato Paste

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

Spices

  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes
  • Salt to taste

Fresh Parsley

  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Lemon

  • 1 lemon, for squeezing

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Flatbread: Begin by preheating your oven to a high temperature, typically around 475°F (245°C). If you are using store-bought flatbread, warm it slightly in the oven to make it pliable, ensuring it supports the toppings.
  2. Make the Turkey Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 lb ground turkey, 1 finely chopped onion, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp chili flakes, and salt to taste. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Spread the Mixture: On your warmed flatbread, use a spatula to evenly spread the turkey mixture, leaving a small border around the edge for crispness.
  4. Bake: Carefully place the flatbreads on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the turkey is fully cooked.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove the Turkey Lahmacun from the oven and top generously with fresh parsley and a squeeze of lemon before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor.
  • Don’t overcrowd the flatbread to avoid sogginess.
  • Monitor the cooking time to achieve ideal crispness.
  • Let it rest for a minute after baking for better shape.
  • Experiment with toppings like yogurt or pickled vegetables for added flavor.
