Smashburger Quesadillas combine the delicious flavors of a classic smashed burger with the crispy, cheesy goodness of a quesadilla. Ground beef is seasoned, cooked to juicy perfection, then layered inside flour tortillas with melted cheddar cheese. Served with optional pickles, diced onions, and burger sauce, this quick and easy recipe is perfect for a satisfying lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Garlic powder, to taste

For the Quesadillas

  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or American cheese

Optional Toppings and Serving

  • Pickles, sliced
  • Diced onions
  • Burger sauce

Instructions

  1. Season the Beef: In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently to evenly distribute the seasonings without overworking the meat.
  2. Cook the Beef: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Assemble the Quesadillas: Lay out the flour tortillas flat. Evenly distribute the cooked ground beef over half of each tortilla. Sprinkle shredded cheddar or American cheese on top of the beef.
  4. Cook the Quesadillas: Fold the tortillas over to cover the filling. Heat a clean skillet over medium heat and cook each quesadilla for 3-4 minutes per side until the tortillas are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  5. Serve: Remove quesadillas from the skillet and slice into wedges. Serve with optional pickles, diced onions, and burger sauce on the side for dipping or topping.

Notes

  • You can use any ground beef fat percentage you prefer, though 80/20 is recommended for juiciness.
  • For extra crispiness, press the quesadilla gently with a spatula while cooking.
  • Feel free to add other burger toppings like tomato slices or lettuce inside the quesadilla before folding.
  • If you want less grease, drain cooked beef on paper towels before assembling.
  • Use a medium heat to avoid burning the tortilla before the cheese melts inside.
