Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 can (226 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough

Filling

  • 240 g cooked crab meat, chopped (fresh, canned, or imitation)
  • 115 g cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) mayonnaise
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon (4 g) Old Bay seasoning or seafood seasoning
  • 56 g shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Finishing Touch

  • Chopped parsley or paprika for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a bowl, combine the chopped cooked crab meat, softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, finely chopped green onions, Old Bay seasoning, shredded cheese, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly until well combined and creamy.
  2. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the proper temperature by the time your bites are rolled and ready.
  3. Prepare the Crescent Dough: Unroll the refrigerated crescent roll dough and separate it into individual triangles as indicated on the packaging.
  4. Fill the Crescents: Place a generous spoonful of the crab filling onto the wider end of each crescent triangle. Be careful not to overfill to allow for easy rolling.
  5. Roll the Crescents: Starting from the wide end, roll each crescent triangle toward the pointed end, encasing the crab filling inside.
  6. Arrange and Bake: Place the rolled crescents on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a lightly greased baking tray, spacing them a little apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crescent dough is golden brown and puffed.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with chopped parsley or a light dusting of paprika if desired. Serve warm and enjoy these delightful crab-filled bites.

Notes

  • Use fresh crab meat for the best flavor, though canned or imitation crab can be used as a budget-friendly alternative.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to ensure a smooth and easy-to-mix filling.
  • Don’t overfill the crescents to prevent leaking during baking.
  • These bites can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving for convenience.
  • Can be served with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, or a squeeze of lemon for extra zest.
